  • His former coach, Benni McCarthy, sent him a message to the former player whom he had coached for two seasons

Former Manchester United coach Benni McCarthy has sent a message to Marcus Rashford, who has moved to Aston Villa on a loan for the remainder of the season.

The English star left his hometown club after he was remotely removed by the team's new coach, Ruben Amorim.

The 27-year-old last featured for Man United in mid-December and was reportedly in discussions with several clubs, including Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund.

McCarthy's message to Rashford

The International Birmingham club Aston Villa announced that they had secured Rashford on loan from Manchester United last Sunday, a move that had been anticipated following Amorim's decision to drop him.

Unai Emery's side will cover at least 75% of £325,000-a-week wages that Rashford could earn, going up to 90%. The deal also includes an option to buy the winger in the summer, as per MEN.

Amorim has left Rashford out of the Manchester derby for the first time on December 15. His last appearance was on December 12, against Viktoria Plzen, and he has missed the last 13 matches.

Following his first exclusion, Rashford told journalist Henry Winter that he desires to leave.

I feel I'm prepared for a new challenge and the next steps." he said. "When I leave, it will be 'no hard feelings'. You won't hear any negative comments from me about Manchester United. That reflects my personal character.

Rashford is anticipated to play a significant role in Emery's team, which is just reaching the Round of 16 in the Champions League and currently ranks at eighth in the Premier League.

McCarthy shared her comment on Rashford's Instagram.

You have my sincerest appreciation for your dedication and hard work, Your Majesty.

A pathetic defending display by Aston Villa was punished by Manchester United, with Marcus Rashford scoring the winning goal.

His current and former Manchester United teammates, including Jadon Sancho, Luke Shaw, Eric Bailly, Scott McTominay, Phil Jones, Joshua Zirkzee, and Alejandro Garnacho, have wished him well.

@Salibasexual02:

He has a special touch with strikers and will help him regain his form.

@ashagg12oct:

"Go on, Marcus. Smash it at Villa. You were the first academy player I became attached to when I began cheering for United. You've been a driving force for this club through tough times, and now it's time for you to reach great heights. Farewell, Starboy :)

@billionair_code:

He doesn't appear too pleased. Sorry, Rashford, but it was inevitable you'd have to depart Man U. I hope everything turns out all right for you now at Aston Villa.

@United_Hour:

It will be a pity to see Rashford in another jersey, let's hope he regains his spark.

@DFG_UTD:

Marcus deserves so much better than this. I'm utterly furious with the club right now. Everything about our team is utterly appalling at the moment. Wishing him all the best.

Mulama comments on McCarthy
